Keep public art attached to its own record
Visit The Woodlands, the Township's destination organization, publishes an official guide to mosaics, sculptures, and art benches in the community. That guide can identify a documented public work and location. It does not authenticate an unrelated object or authorize use of an artist's name, and it cannot create provenance for a private listing merely because similar imagery appears elsewhere in The Woodlands.
For a proposed purchase, record maker, title, date, medium, support, dimensions, weight, edition information, signatures, labels, condition, repairs, and ownership history. Ask for the source behind each exhibition or community claim. Photograph front, reverse, margins, frame, backing, mounts, and hardware. Keep Township or public-art citations limited to the precise installation they describe and mark comparison as comparison.
