Customs & Import Duties
United States
No customs duties on original artwork imported into the USA. Paintings are classified under Harmonized Tariff Schedule 9701.10.0000 and are duty-free.
European Union
EU member states generally apply a reduced VAT rate on original artworks — typically 5-15% depending on the country. Import duty on original paintings is often 0% under EU trade agreements. We provide all required documentation.
United Kingdom
Original artworks benefit from a reduced VAT rate of 5% on import. Customs duty on original paintings is typically 0%. Commercial invoice and certificate of authenticity are provided.
Canada
Under CUSMA/USMCA, original artworks of US origin typically qualify for duty-free treatment. GST/HST (5-15% depending on province) applies at import. Documentation package supports streamlined clearance.
Australia
Original artworks are generally duty-free under Australian Customs Tariff. GST (10%) applies to imports valued above AUD 1,000. We provide the commercial invoice and packing list required for clearance.
Middle East / UAE

Return Policy
30-Day Return Window
If you are not completely satisfied with your painting, you have 30 calendar days from the date of delivery to initiate a return. We want you to love your artwork — if it does not work in your space, we will make it right.
Return Conditions
- ✦ The painting must be in its original condition — undamaged, unaltered
- ✦ Return in the original crate and packaging when possible
- ✦ Certificate of Authenticity must be returned with the painting
- ✦ Initiate the return by contacting us — do not ship until we confirm
- ✦ Return shipping cost is the buyer's responsibility (except for damaged or misdescribed items)
Exceptions
- ✦ Custom commissions: Because commissions are built to your specifications, they are final sale upon your approval of the completed work. However, if the piece arrives damaged or does not materially match the approved concept, the standard return and refund policies apply.
- ✦ Damaged shipments: If your painting arrives damaged, you are fully covered. Contact us immediately with photos — return shipping is at our expense, and we cover any associated costs.
Refund Process
How Refunds Work
- 1.Contact us within 30 days of delivery to initiate the return.
- 2.We provide return shipping instructions and the return address.
- 3.Pack the painting in its original crate and ship with tracking.
- 4.Once we receive and inspect the painting (typically 2-3 business days after arrival), we initiate the refund.
- 5.Refunds are processed back to your original payment method.
Refund by Payment Type
- PayPalRefunded back to your PayPal account, typically visible within 3-10 business days depending on your financial institution.
- CryptocurrencyWe refund the USD value of your purchase in the same cryptocurrency at the exchange rate at the time of refund. Due to price volatility, the amount of crypto you receive back may differ from your original transaction amount, but the USD equivalent matches your purchase price. You provide a wallet address for the refund.
Damaged Shipment Procedure
We have shipped hundreds of paintings without a single damage claim. However, in the extremely unlikely event your painting arrives damaged, here is what to do:
- 1.Document immediately: Take clear photos of the damaged crate exterior, the damaged painting, and any visible damage to the packaging. Do not discard any packaging materials.
- 2.Contact us within 48 hours: Email info@physicalartforcrypto.com with photos and a description. We respond immediately and handle the claim on your behalf.
- 3.Choose your resolution: We offer three options — full refund, replacement (if a comparable piece is available or we expedite a new commission), or professional restoration at our expense.
- 4.We handle the logistics: If a return is needed, we arrange and pay for return shipping. You are never out of pocket for damage that occurs in transit.
