Read the object against the Keys record
The Key West Art and Historical Society operates four museums and states that it collects, preserves, and shares material concerning the Florida Keys, South Florida, and the Caribbean. Its collections offer context for checking names, dates, subjects, and exhibition histories. They do not authenticate an unrelated work, establish present ownership, or convert a Key West theme into documented local provenance.
Ask the seller for the exact evidence behind any island connection: a dated label, bill of sale, catalogue entry, artist correspondence, photograph, or traceable ownership record. Build an object sheet recording maker, title, date, materials, support, measurements, weight, edition information, inscriptions, repairs, and known custody. Photograph the front, reverse, edges, frame, labels, fasteners, and signatures before packing.
