Use the County museum as a regional source
The Door County Historical Museum is operated by the County in Sturgeon Bay and presents exhibits and collections concerning county history. That makes it an appropriate regional research anchor while also showing that a countywide guide is not evidence about every municipality. The museum cannot authenticate a privately offered artwork, prove island or family provenance, or imply County endorsement of a transaction.
Create the object record with maker, title, date, medium, support, dimensions, weight, edition information, condition, documented ownership history, and sources for geographic or cultural claims. Save current images of the front, reverse, edges, labels, signature, frame, and hardware. A lighthouse, maritime, Scandinavian, Belgian, Indigenous, orchard, island, or named-community association requires precise evidence and should not be inferred merely because the subject resembles Door County.
