Use a regional institution with accurate geography
Sun Valley Museum of Art describes itself as a contemporary, non-collecting institution founded in 1971 and based in Ketchum. It is a relevant Wood River Valley cultural anchor, but its physical location should not be misstated as the City of Sun Valley. Its exhibitions and programs can support informed looking; they cannot establish local demand, authenticate a private work, or show that an offered object is available nearby.
Build a separate object record containing artist, title, date, medium, support, dimensions, weight, edition details where relevant, condition notes, and documented ownership history. Ask for current photographs of the full face, reverse, margins, frame, labels, signature, and hanging system. Where a landscape or regional association is claimed, request the underlying documentation. A recognizable place name is not a substitute for authorship, provenance, or condition evidence.
