Read the Lucerne collection by medium and regional connection
Museum Luzern says the cantonal art collection contains more than 3,600 works by roughly 720 artists and represents artistic production in the canton from the late Middle Ages. It names painting, graphic art, photography, sculpture, and mixed media, and states that Museum Luzern assumed collection care in September 2025. That bounded record offers concrete reference points for period, medium, support, and claimed regional connection.
The cantonal holdings do not authenticate a work offered elsewhere. Ask for high-resolution front, edge, and reverse images; exact dimensions with and without frame; material and technique; current condition; restoration disclosures; edition information; and the source of any provenance or exhibition claim. For video, installation, or multi-part work, obtain component lists, power requirements, display instructions, and replacement or obsolescence notes.
