Let San Telmo’s range improve the evidence checklist
San Telmo’s collection includes painting, sculpture, drawings, prints, photography, ceramics, plans, medals, instruments, and many social-history objects. That breadth is a useful Donostia anchor because it discourages treating every wall object as the same category. Basque subject matter, a coastal image, or a familiar city view remains iconography; none of those features proves origin, ownership, attribution, or museum history.
Describe the exact work through maker, title, date, medium, support, technique, dimensions, weight, signatures, labels, edition, frame, glazing, condition, treatment, and provenance. For photographs and prints, document process, sheet or image size, mounting, and light history. For sculpture or mixed media, inventory components and assembly needs. Reconcile every catalogue and exhibition statement against photographs and object-specific records before relying on it.
