Let Museum Ostwall broaden the Dortmund object checklist
Museum Ostwall states that the City of Dortmund collection contains about 7,500 works and that roughly two thirds are works on or from paper, alongside painting, sculpture, objects, photography, video, and installations. Its Expressionism and Fluxus strengths make material variety a specific local anchor. They do not authenticate a privately listed print or give that object a museum history.
For paper, ask about technique, sheet size, image size, margins, hinges, backing, glazing, light history, foxing, tears, and edition details. For objects or media, document every component, weight, condition, operating requirement, and assembly instruction. Across all formats, request signatures, labels, provenance, restoration disclosures, and consistent front and reverse photographs. Do not let a familiar artist name replace object-level evidence.
