Ask how the candidate work produces its visual effect: painted adjacency, reflective material, physical depth or another construction. Request views from the front and both sides if angle matters. A single photograph cannot describe an object that changes as you walk past it. For a corridor, consider the sequence of approach; for a seated room, consider whether the effect is still rewarding from a mostly fixed position.
Make depth part of the delivery brief
