It is a dated institutional history, not a current visitor guide. For a collector, it underlines why the survival of a photograph or an object does not guarantee a continuous record of its ownership.

For a newly made painting, ask the artist to supply the title, creation date, materials and an image identifying the finished work. Keep those details with the invoice and any correspondence about changes. If a seller describes an older work as museum-related, request the specific catalogue or record rather than accepting a broad association. An absence of documentation should be acknowledged in the description, not filled with a plausible story.
Make a room brief without losing the artist
