Separate the paper from the mount
A watercolour’s pale passages may rely on the underlying paper. Ask for a photograph that includes its edges and an accurate description of the support. Compare the image dimensions with the outer dimensions after mounting and framing. When considering a landscape, examine the distribution of light rather than just the subject: a broad bright sky and a densely painted foreground can give works of equal size very different visual weight.
Choose presentation for the actual room
For a Castries residence or another Saint Lucia address, describe where the painting will hang and whether the wall receives direct sun or faces an open doorway. Ask a qualified framer about the materials and glazing appropriate to the selected work. If framing will happen locally, establish how the paper will be supported in transit. State whether the receiving person can inspect and store the package promptly after arrival.
