This is useful for collectors because an image seen in a museum and an image understood within its original interior are not identical viewing experiences. The source documents medieval works; it does not authenticate a contemporary painting inspired by them.
For an Andorran interior, photograph the whole wall before cropping a rectangle for the artwork. Include doors, beams, sloped ceilings and any furniture that constrains the sightline. A painting may fit the available width yet compete with an adjacent opening. Compare the work’s outer dimensions with the clear area, then consider whether the composition needs breathing room on all four sides. If texture is a priority, include the direction of the main light in the inquiry rather than choosing solely from a frontal catalogue image.
