Discuss your painting ↗The Onufri Iconographic Museum in Berat identifies works associated with Onufri, Nikolla, Onufër the Cypriot, David Selenica and other painters. UNESCO’s Berat and Gjirokastra record places the cities’ buildings in a longer architectural history. Together these references help separate a named painter, a painting tradition and the architectural setting in which an object was used. They do not turn all Albanian art into religious painting or establish the identity of an unrelated canvas.
When an icon’s colour attracts you, examine how the colour meets outlines, surrounding decoration and reflective areas. A screen cannot reliably show surface sheen. For a contemporary work, request a front-facing photograph in even light and an oblique view that reveals relief and gloss. Decide whether you want a strongly bounded image or marks that continue around the canvas edge. An abstract painting can be selected for those formal qualities without copying sacred figures or suggesting an unsupported connection to Onufri.
A painting for an apartment, a stone-walled interior or a newly finished room needs the wall’s own measurements. Send the clear width between openings, the furniture beneath it and a photograph including adjacent lights. If the proposed location is in a historic building, ask the property manager about permissible fixings before selecting a hanging system. Record the delivery city and access separately; architectural heritage status is not a description of every address in Albania.
No. A frame should suit the actual support, depth and condition. Compare a restrained frame with the artist’s intended edge treatment, allowing space around raised paint rather than pressing the surface against glazing.
Compare composition, contrast and viewing distance. Keep the subject’s religious meaning and the contemporary artist’s stated intentions in the record instead of treating similar colours as shared authorship.
